On And On
Since 2001, the On And On Records label has created a special place for itself in the French musical landscape. Ignoring fashions and trends, a “family” label above all, it was initially built around the passion for hip hop as put forward by legendary American labels like Rawkus or Stones Throw.
In line with these, the first releases of On And On records give way to instrumental rap nourished by funk and jazz with the maxi Malade by 20syl (Hocus Pocus) but also return to the sources of hip hop. In fact, the Flying saucer breakbeat produced by the Coups2Cross collective, which will become C2C, is published for DJs .
From the outset, On And On records stood out for its authenticity and was thus part of this dynamic which led the label to release 73 touches , the critically acclaimed second Hocus Pocus album. From then on, the small label won the big leagues while maintaining a sharp and sincere artistic identity. Co-founded by 20syl, voice and producer of Hocus Pocus but also composer for many big names in French rap (Fabe, Diam's, Disiz..), On And On stays the course and publishes Place 54, new opus of Hocus Pocus which was released in 2007 and emerged from the underground to gain public success with a gold record.
From then on, the label established itself as a major player on the contemporary scene and multiplied daring releases and collaborations until the colossal success of C2C with the album Tetra which won 4 Victoires de la Musique and a double platinum disc. The On And On family, which has remained the same since its beginnings, then offers its color and its identity to an audience which continues to expand but nevertheless maintains its vocation to develop more modest projects. Thus, the label carried the first EP of Ledeunff or that of 20syl, demonstrating its dynamism, its freshness and its ability to bring together eclectic, passionate and unique artists.
