Hocus Pocus

Created in 1995 around two MCs, a DJ and a studio in a bedroom, Hocus Pocus established itself from the start as a UFO on the French rap scene. With a first album, Second Formula, in 1997, published in 1000 copies, the young group began to make a name for itself among those in the know for its singularity. Indeed, referring more to The Roots than to NWA, Hocus Pocus breaks from the start with the popular sounds to shine in a much more instrumental register. The group preserves and cultivates this particularity so well that the group evolves into a unique mc, 20syl, who in addition to DJ Greem is accompanied by musicians. 20syl continues to produce and write all of the group's titles, which became known to the general public with the song Hip hop? in 2005 appeared on the album 73 touches then with the disc Place 54 . This was praised by critics and the public alike and was awarded a gold disc. Thus, Hocus Pocus establishes itself in the French musical landscape and beyond, distinguishing itself by its unique bias in the hip hop world but also by the quality of the live performances it offers. Hocus Pocus thus continued its atypical path while winning the hearts of the public but also of its peers. Choice collaborations have multiplied, notably with Akhenaton, Oxmo Puccino, Alice Russell and the legendary Fred Wesley. In addition to having touched his dream, the group now serves as a reference.
